NEW FEATURES IN PETRASIM V2026

We are pleased to announce the release of PetraSim v2026, featuring bug fixes, workflow improvements, and expanded export capabilities.

License Requirements

To use PetraSim v2026, users must have an active maintenance contract that expires after June 30, 2026.

If you are using an older version of PetraSim with expired maintenance and would like to request a trial license for the new version, please contact sales@rockware.com.

Users of PetraSim v2025 with a current maintenance plan can download and install PetraSim v2026 with no additional licensing steps required using this LINK.

Updated 3D Result Export Tools

3D result exports have been reorganized, and new VTU export options have been added.

  • The File | Export Tec Scalar menu has been added.
  • TEC file export has been removed from File | Export Data.
  • The File | Export Data menu is now used exclusively for ASCII file formats such as CSV and TXT.
  • A new File | Export VTU Scalars tool exports cell-based result data for the selected time step to VTU files for use in third-party graphics programs such as TecPlot and ParaView.
  • A new File | Export VTU Vectors tool exports vector-based result data as VTU files for use in third-party graphics programs.
  • For polygonal meshes, VTU files can be exported as either polyhedral or wedge VTU files, improving compatibility with multiple third-party platforms.

Enhanced Petrel Import

The Petrel import has been enhanced to populate the Permeability Modifier field for individual cells based on the Petrel PERM or PERMX keyword.

New Saturation-Weighted Phase Density Option

A new saturation-weighted phase density option has been added for gravity-term calculations in Darcy’s law. Enabled with FE(8) = -1, this method provides smoother density variation during phase transitions and may improve simulation convergence.

This option supports TOUGH2 EOS modules including EOS2, EWASG, and ECO2N.

Installer Improvement

The PetraSim v2026 installer now includes an option to launch the application after installation. This option is enabled by default.
