We are pleased to announce the release of PetraSim v2026.2, featuring an upgrade to Java 17, improved performance for large models, new TOUGH2Path visualization capabilities, and a number of workflow and licensing improvements.
License Requirements
To use PetraSim v2026, users must have an active maintenance contract that expires after August 31, 2026.
If you are using an older version of PetraSim with expired maintenance and would like to request a trial license for the new version, please contact sales@rockware.com.
PetraSim users with a current maintenance plan can download and install PetraSim v2026.s with no additional licensing steps required using this LINK.
PetraSim Java 17 Upgrade
PetraSim v2026.2 has been upgraded to Java 17, providing a modern foundation for improved performance, reliability, and future development.

Other New Features and Improvements
- TOUGH2Path Pathline Import – Added support for importing and displaying TOUGH2Path pathlines from .vtp files using File | Import VTP Pathlines in the 3D Results window.
- Improved File Navigation – Open, Load, and similar file dialogs now default to the project directory, reducing unnecessary browsing and providing a smoother workflow.
- Improved License Importing – PetraSim’s licensing components have been updated to make text-license importing more reliable, with improved HostId validation, clearer error reporting, stricter license validation, and more consistent handling of license files and folders.
