NEW FEATURES IN PETRASIM V2024

This is a new release of PetraSim that provides bug fixes and improvements to the program.  PetraSim users must have a maintenance contract that expires after 4/30/2024 to use PetraSim v2024.

If you are using PetraSim v2022 or older, you can download the latest version of PetraSim by registering for a free trial.  Users of PetraSim v2024 who are on current maintenance plan can simply download and install PetraSim v2024 with no additional licensing steps using this LINK.

PetraSim v2024.1.05.29

New features/bug fixes in the 2024 release include enhance support for TOUGHREACT v3.32/4.13, as well as other new features that are applicable to all supported simulators, including TOUGH2, TOUGH3, TMVOC, and TOUGHREACT v1.2.  Unlike the TOUGHREACT v1.2 simulator that is still packaged with PetraSim, TOUGHREACT v4.13 is not included and must be purchased through Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

New Features/Improvements

  • New buttons and menu items are now available to select the upper-most or lower-most exposed cells. This allows users to select the top or base of models where the cell layers are not continuous.
  • The 3D Results window incudes a new export option to snap data to cell corners and export all parameters to a comma or tab delimited text file.
  • When running a simulation, the user now has the option to create new input files based on the SIM file, or to run the simulation using existing input files that are placed in the same directory at the SIM file. This allows the user to modify or replace TOUGH and TOUGHREACT input file and then quickly run the simulation without the use of a command line. This new feature removes the need to run simulations through a command line in most cases.
  • The Global Properties dialog now includes a tab title “Input File Format”. If the “Create Separate Files for MESH, GENER, INCON” option is selected, this data will be stored in files separate from the .DAT, INFILE or flow.inp file (depending on which simulator you are using). Storing this data in external files makes it easier to quickly view and edit model input data in a text editor.
  • The TOUGHREACT v3.32/v4.13 CSVConvertor program will now extract both element and connection data from the flow.out file. This allows for the plotting of vectors for TOUGHREACT v3.32 and v4.13 simulation results. If a user chooses to use the Tecplot output format, the CSVConvertor will work as before and extract only the element-based data for display.
  • The TOUGHREACT v3.32/v4.13 CSVConvertor program now runs automatically after a simulation is complete. This removes the requirement of running the conversions manually before displaying new results.
