RockWorks/2004 Beta-Version Revision History
2003/Q3 (07/01/03-09/31/03)
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Improvement (09/12/03/JPR): A new menu option titled "Vertical Offset" has been added to the Graphics/3D-Utilities/Images/Drape program. This may be used to eliminate the interference caused by a draped images that perfectly corresponds to another surface (e.g. draping an image over a stratigraphic model).
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Improvement (9/11/03/JPR): The "Stratabound" filter that is used within the solid modeling process for I-Data, P-Data, lithology data, etc, now truncates solid models if any portion of a solid node extends above the truncating grid. The previous version would truncate only if the node midpoint extended above the surface. The helps to make reserve estimations more conservative. Notice how voxel corners may still extend above the truncation surface, especially within regions where the truncation surface is steep.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Improvement (09/11/03/JPR): A "Group Title" option has been added to the following menus;
Borehole Manager / Striplogs / 3D-View / Multiple Logs
Geological Utilities / OpenGL / RockPlot2D -> RockPlot/3D
RockPlot/2D / File / Export / RockPlot/3D
This provides control over the title that will appear within the RockPlot/3D data tree.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Improvement (09/11/03/JPR): A "Reference Cage" option has been added to the following menus;
Geological Utilities / OpenGL / RockPlot2D -> RockPlot/3D
RockPlot/2D / File / Export / RockPlot/3D
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (09/11/03/JPR): A new program called "RockPlot/2D -> RockPlot/3D" has been added to the Geological Utilities / OpenGL menu. This program is used to convert a RockPlot/2D graphic into a RockPlot/3D diagram. This program is identical to the RockPlot/2D / File / Export / RockPlot3D program except that it allows the user to specify the name of the input file.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (09/11/03/JPR): A new program called "Cage" has been added to the Geological Utilities / OpenGL menu. This program is used to make a "reference cage" that can be combined with other RockPlot/3D graphics.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (9/9/03/JPR): A new program called "Append" has been added to the Geological Utilities / OpenGL menu. This program is used to combine two RockPlot3D XML files into a single diagram.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Improvement (09/08/03/JPR): The grid smoothing filter is no longer based on a simple box filter (i.e. averaging adjacent node values). Instead, grid smoothing is accomplished via a weighted average of the node values within a designated search radius. The net result is to minimize the blockiness of smoothed grid models.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (08/28/03/JPR): The Borehole Manager / Striplogs / Hole-to-Hole Section program now allows the user to bypass the interactive map-selection process by creating a list of boreholes within an ASCII file.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Cosmetic (08/27/03/JPR): The View / General Preferences / Table listing has been grouped into sub-categories;
RockWorks/2004 Beta - Improvement (8/27/03/JPR): The Geological Utilities / Survey / Drill-Hole Survey program has been modified as follows;
The output columns are now "hardwired".
The output columns are now automatically labeled.
The Borehole Survey Table (BHsurvey.tab) now includes sample data.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (08/27/03/JPR): A new setting titled "Prompt For Project Folder" has been added to the View / General Preferences menu. This option is used to disable to the Project Folder menu that appears every time the RockWorks program is launched.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (08/21/03/JPR): Color names (e.g. "Red") are now used when specifying colors within an AGL (ASCII Graphic Language) file. These are the files that are processed via the RockPlot/2D/Import/AGL program. Color names are defined within the "Color Names" table (see View/Preferences/Tables). These color names replace the former RGB (Red,Green,Blue) values. It is however, now possible to enter a Windows color number instead of the color name.
Example:
Color: RED
Linestyle: 3
Polyline:
652,660.0 5,535,024.7 0.0
652,801.8 5,535,023.7 0.0
652,810.5 5,535,020.8 0.0
652,810.5 5,535,003.3 0.0
End-Polyline:
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (08/15/03/JPR): When viewing a sub-menu, right-clicking on a menu item will present a dialog box that lists the variable name. This is useful for users who are using the RCL (RockWare Command Language) and wish to know the name for a variable that they would like to manipulate within their RCL scripts.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (08/14/03/JPR): The column-selection boxes within the tree-style menus now display a hint box that depicts the entire column name. This is very useful when dealing with long column titles that do not fit within the allotted space.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Features (08/14/03/JPR): Several new features have been added to the View/General-Preferences menu to control how the menus appear;
Abstracts/Default Width: New option that allows the user to control the width of the abstracts (help screens) that appear along the right side of the main menu and the sub-menus. Note that help window can always be enlarged or reduced by dragging the "splitter" bar between the menu and the help messages.
Menu Dimensions: These options provide a means for specifying whether or not the main menu and the submenu fill the entire computer screen or just a selected portion.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (08/07/03/JPR): The following changes have been made to the "background bitmap" capabilities within the programs that create two-dimensional maps (e.g. Borehole-Manager/Map/Borehole-Map);
The import and plotting process is significantly faster (seconds version minutes - in the previous version).
The user can now control whether or not the bitmap will be imbedded within the graphic file, thereby eliminating problems when the file is moved to another directory that does not include the original bitmap.
The program can now import other types of bitmaps (e.g. TIF images).
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (07/14/03/JPR): The Geological-Utilities/Solid/Boolean/Density program now plots the diagram after the density model has been created thereby eliminating the need to plot it as a separate step.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (07/14/03/JPR): The Geological-Utilities/Solid/Filter/Distance-Filter program now plots the diagram after the model has been filtered thereby eliminating the need to plot it as a separate step.
RockWorks/2004 Beta - New Feature (07/08/03/JPR): A program called GSM-19 has been added to the File/Import menu. This program reads data that is output from the GemLink 4.0 (magnetometer/gradiometer) program.
