LynnReid Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I am importing stratigraphic surfaces into Petrasim in the hopes of creating internal regions. The surfaces were created in GoCad, and exported into .xyz format. The columns in the .xyz file are space delimited. The model is a vertical cross section. Within Petrasim, I can import the .xyz files: I get a dialog indicating faces/triangles are being added, and I see the surfaces in the model. However, no new regions are being created! I still only have one region in the model. Hence I would need to go through the grid and change the rock properties cell by cell. Note the attached image: I've clearly got two surfaces and should have three regions. But there is only one defined. How can I get Petrasim to generate internal regions? I am using version 4.2.1118. Also, note that I cannot get any other type of data to import as internal boundaries. I cannot import .dxf files, and I cannot import .dxf files converted to (comma-delimited) .xyz files with the free Rockware software Dxf2xyz. DXF files were exported from GoCad v2.5.2. Thanks for the help! Lynn
Charlie Thornton Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 You may want to check out the version 5 beta I just posted in this thread: https://www.rockware.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1385 It has a lot of new features to help work with stratigraphy. It lets you import XYZ and DXF files as the layer boundaries.

AMCHE Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Lynn, I am having exactly the same problems. I can create boundaries between layers (sometimes if I am lucky) from contour files, but no regions. As I do not have the version 5 yet, is it possible to create boundaries in version 4, and how? Any help greatly appreciated! Mette
