JoshM
I recently made some changes to some records in the Stratigraphy table, but when I go to import the new table, the records are not being updated in the borehole manager. I've tried the "Replace Existing Record" and the "Update Existing Record" options in the Excel Import Wizard. I've done this process several times in the past without any issues. Not sure what's going wrong. I've uploaded my zipped up project to the Rockware uploads portal. Thanks for your help.
Molly
Hi Josh, It sounds like you have made changes to records in a Stratigraphy spreadsheet (Excel) outside RockWorks, and you are then trying to import the updated information into the Borehole Manager, without success - the Stratigraphy data (depth intervals and formation names) are not being updated in the database. Is that correct? If so we will also need the Excel file you are trying to import; it is difficult to trouble-shoot without seeing the layout of the data you are importing. I was able to grab the project zip file; you can just email the XLS or XLSX file to support at rockware.com. If I have misunderstood your question, please specify where you made the changes and what type of table you are importing. ThanksMolly Mayfield RockWare Inc. JoshM
Excel table has been sent to support@rockware.com Thank you for your help
Molly
First, you need to understand that the Excel import for tables such as Stratigraphy will replace all of the existing data in that table with the data being imported. (For multi-column tables like P-Data, this is also true for existing columns, however you can append new columns to the database.) Please refer to the first three bullets in this help topic: http://help.rockware.com/rockworks17/WebHelp/xls_to_bh.htm So, if you wish to add new stratigraphy intervals in Excel and import them into an existing database that already contains stratigraphy data, you should export all of the Stratigraphy currently in the database TO Excel, add the new data, sort the Excel worksheet by borehole, then re-import into RockWorks. It looks like you may have done that already - if you remove the Filter in your Excel worksheet, are sure that you are sorting the data FIRST BY BOREHOLE then by depths, then it should work fine. (My tests show that your unfiltered spreadsheet has 484 Stratigraphy rows. After I import those into the database, then export back to Excel to compare, the result is also 484 Strat rows.) Because you are adding only Stratigraphy data to existing holes, you should choose Update Existing Record in the import wizard. You might also refer to this help topic which discusses many of the different import scenarios from Excel (inserting data, appending data, etc.): http://help.rockware.com/rockworks17/WebHelp/xls_to_bh_goals.htm Hope this helps Molly Mayfield RockWare Inc
JoshM
Sorting the data table fixed the issue. Thank you for your help.
