RockWorks/2006 cannot create a new project

RockWorks/2006 cannot create a new project and fails with:

EOleException : Application uses a value of the wrong type for the current operation.

Occurs when running Windows 2000 and Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.5.

In the BugReport look for version on one of:

msado15.dll

oledb32.dll

msadox.dll

These dll’s can be found on the machine in the directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado

This problem will occur when the version is 2.53.xxxx.xxxx (Version 2.5) the version should be 2.81.xxxx.xxxx (Version 2.8)

Solution:

Go to Microsoft download site www.microsoft.com/downloads and search for MDAC (current version is 2.8). Download and install latest version.
