Faults

Recommended Posts

Hey,

The data that I am working with, has a number of faults located throughout it. Is there any way of entering this data into the model and produce a stragriphic section that takes this information into consideration?

Thanks

Beth

Hi Beth,

yes you can add faulting to the modeling. Take a look at the Inverse Distance method for your surface interpolation, it has an option for faulting. The format for the fault file includes one or more polylines.

Polyline:

653,306.8 5,535,009.7

653,316.3 5,535,102.6

653,305.2 5,535,173.5

653,357.2 5,535,327.9

End-Polyline:

It helps to have good control points near the fault which isn't always possible.

Hi,

I'm also struggling with faulting! What I need to do is place a dipping fault in the solid geology which stops at the base of some overlying superficial deposits.

I have been tinkering with this for a couple of days now and am about ready to launch my PC across the office in frustration. Any help or suggestions welcome...

AP :)
