Stuart McDonald Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 PROBLEM: My firm has run Rockworks successfully on Windows Server 2019 Standard for years with a physical rack server set up in our office...with terminal server/file server environment (including Rockworks) for our users. We as a company are wanting/trying to migrate to cloud terminal/file server via Microsoft Azure. Our IT firm has everything working except for some reason the Azure cloud server version is not performing quite as well as the rack server version (even though the specs of the cloud server exceed the performance specs of our rack servers). Specifically, Rockworks loses settings and files within the application during use do sometimes not reflect the current project and the application and use of the application slows and is frustrating to use. We understand that Rockworks was designed to be used on a desktop environment versus a server environment but it has worked fine on our rack server environment for years with no issue. We have tried RW on an Azure Windows 11 Desktop virtual machine and the abovementioned issues went away in part or in total. QUESTION FOR USER GROUP: However, we would like to run RW on Azure terminal server....so my question is...have any of you done this successfully and overcome the abovementioned issues we are having...and if so, any tips to offer me/us? Thanks in advance!
