Edward Hakanson
Hi, I am trying to save some polygons drawn in RW2D to a profile and I get an error message that says "Dataset not in edit or insert mode". How do I fix this?
Molly
Hi Edward, I cannot recreate this error when drawing polygons on a cross section. Once I close a polygon (double click on the second-to-last vertex to close it) I can save the graphic with no error, with multiple polygons drawn on the image. The lower edge of the RockPlot2D window may help trouble-shoot this, since it usually displays the current status of the drawing - If I'm in draw mode it reads "Draw Polygon" or if I have the Edit arrow selected, it reports "Edit". If you continue to see this message, please let us know the exact steps you are taking and what the screen is reporting. Mitch
Edward, are you saving the polygons to a table or perhaps filling the polygons with a pattern from a Stratigraphy, Lithology or Aquifer table? Those are the only operations I can think of that include a Dataset. If you can provide the step by step instructions to repeat this error we can help you figure out a solution. Edward Hakanson
I simply draw a polygon in RW2d and then when I right click I get the option to save the drawing to a polygon file. When I select that option is when I get the error. The problem is not saving the image that the polygons are drawn but rather saving the polygons themselves to polygon tables. I do not think that I am filling the polygons with patterns from the Stratigraphy, Lithology or Aquifer tables. However, when the error arises again I will send the bug report with a screenshot. Thanks
Mitch
I don't think a bug report or screenshot will help in this case since we now know what you were doing. Unfortunately I can't duplicate the error and it may be a unique event. If it keeps occurring you should run Check Database Integrity (BH Manager/File/Check Database Integrity) to see if there are problems with your database.
