Error: "RockPack III has expired"

Recommended Posts

Several customers have reported that they get an error message when trying to run RockPack III.

RockPack III has expired. Please call to upgrade.

To work around the problem, close RockPack, then right-click on the RockPack shortcut or EXE and choose Run As Administrator. This will increase the user privileges to allow RockPack to write the license information to the Windows Registry.

One customer was not able to get paste the error even when running as administrator. This customer is now attempting to run RockPack in Windows XP Compatibility mode. To enter this mode, right-click on the RockPack shortcut or EXE, choose Properties, Compatibility | Run this program in compatibility mode for | Windows XP.

If you run into this problem and the procedure stated above does not work, please let us know.

Regards,

Tom B

When you run the program As Administrator, you'll probably see the RockPack III - Registration Form window.

  • Name: Enter your name into this prompt.
  • Company: Enter your company name into this prompt.
  • Serial Number:
    • If you purchased a license, enter the RockWare-supplied Serial Number into that prompt.
    • If you are using the software in Demo mode, leave the Serial Number field blank.
  • Click OK. The main RockPack III program window will be displayed. Use the Help menu to access documentation.

Recently another user found that he also had to INSTALL the program by right-clicking on the RockPack installer file and selecting Run As Administrator, even though he was an admin on his computer.

So here is a summary of the steps to take to install and launch RockPack III under Windows 10:

  1. Download the installation ZIP file from the RockWare website (RockPack's page, Free Trial tab).
  2. Save the installation ZIP file to your computer.
  3. When the download is complete, extract the "rkpk" folder and "notes" document from the ZIP file.
  4. Locate the installer in the "rkpk" folder, it is named "setup.exe"
  5. Right-click on the installer file and choose Run As Administrator.
  6. Click Yes if Windows asks you to confirm you want to run the installer.
  7. Install using the defaults.
  8. When the installation is complete, right-click on the RockPack III program icon and choose Run As Administrator.
  9. Click Yes again if Windows again requires confirmation.
  10. If you see the "Registration" window,  enter:
  • Name: Type in your name.
  • Company: Type in your company name.
  • Serial Number: If you purchased a license copy/paste in the RockWare-supplied Serial Number. If you wish to use RockPack in demo mode, leave this field blank.
  • Click OK.
