Question about import SRTM DEM to Rockwork16

Hi

I want to create stratigraphy model in Rockwork 16 , i undrestand that for importing SRTM DEM into rockwork , i can import Digital Elevation models as grids into RockWorks16. Using the Utilities-> Grid-> Import. But i don't know how can I create DEM as grids in GIS software?

also I have to import DEM grid with the same nods in X ,Y direction or not?

Any ideas? I'm sure this issue must have a simple solution!
