Importing 3D models into Rockworks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was just wondering if it is possible to import 3d models of lets say an underground mine or a tunnel from AutoCAD into Rockworks and draw the 3d lithology in conjunction with these models?

Dear shreyarora,

You can import a 3D DXF file from AutoCAD and append it to a lithology model of the same area.

To visualize the appended lithology and DXF, I suggest changing the model drawing style to Points to allow the viewer to see inside the DXF file inside the model.

Another option is to convert the underground mine/tunnel to line segments with x1, y1, z1, x2, y2, z2, and radius on each line of the Utilities datasheet, then use the Solid | Filters | Tube Filter to visualize the lithologic data in the tubes.

Hi shreyarora,

To view the tutorial on this topic, choose the Utilities Solid | Filters | Tube Filter menu command and view the help on the Instructions tab.
