Combine 2 adjacent Lithology model

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Would like to ask is that possible to combine 2 different and adjacent lithology model into a single model? I was required to plot large model (1000m x 300m x 85m) with every small node spacing (0.5m for x, y and z). The modelling time is very long and couldn't be plot as it turns out as error, required to restart software. Is there any setting or adjustment that can solve this problem?

Thank you very much for your advice in advace.

Welcome to the forum.

RockWorks15 is not going to be able to create or display a block model with 2000 x 600 x 170 nodes (204 million), it's just too big. If you need that high resolution, you'll need to model smaller areas. To view the entirety of the area, you'll need to model with fewer nodes for large-scale view.

i'm a little puzzled why you need the nodes spaced at 0.5 m along the x and y axes - what is the spacing of the sample points? Often 1/2 the average minimum distance between control points is adequate for x and y; the z axis resolution can mimic your downhole sampling interval.

Hi Molly,

Thank you so much for your reply.

My sample point spacing is around 20m to 30m spacing. I would like to create tunnel filtered model based on the 3D lithology model. If the spacing is big, the tunnel filtered model is quite rough (can't get smooth circular shape or tube). The tunnel length is about 5km and our initial aim is to create a continuous tunnel filtered model for the whole length. Thus, I would like to know is that possible if I model multiple smaller dimension model, can these models be combined into a single model and use for the tube filter function.

Thank you very much for your advice again.

Sincerely,

siaophin

Hi siaophin,

Thanks for your quick reply.

No, you will not be able to combine smaller models into a large model for filtering. If you require 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 m spacing you will need to create separate lithology models for different project subsets and also filter them individually for the "detail" view. (You can use all holes but just set the output dimensions for each model subset individually).

For large scale view and filtering, does 5 m spacing for x and y not work?

You are welcome to send me your data for review - just choose the Project | Archive Database to ASCII and email the zip file to support at rockware.com.
