LiDAR derived 3D grid showing no data unless rotated

Hi,

I've generated a 3D grid from some LiDAR data. The task appeared to be simple but the generated 3D model only shows all of the surfaces when i select the image and tilt/rotate it. A small portion of the data (over a thin elevation range) is visible all the time. When I create a 2D map as well as the 3D model the 2D map only shows contours for the visible data in the 3D model.

I saw from a 2008 post on this forum that a similar problem had occured in the past and a bug was found relating to automatic setting of project dimensions. I have re-set the project dimensions to the exact bounds of the xyz data for the LiDAR but this has not helped; any advice?
