AqQA: Error on startup

Recommended Posts

This error can occur when AqQA is first started up on newer versions of Windows (Windows 7, Windows Vista). The error occurs because AqQA is attempting to exempt itself from Windows XP Error Reporting (the "Do you want to send information to Microsoft?" option which appears by default after an application error under Windows XP), based on the assumption that the data being manipulated in Aq-QA may be confidential.

Newer versions of Windows require elevated permissions to do this exemption.

So, the first thing to try to side-step this error is to launch AqQA by right-clicking on the program shortcut and selecting Run As Administrator. The program should then launch and you can use the Get A License Key process to unlock the demo. (You may need to update the program shortcut to always run the program As Administrator: right-click on the shortcut, choose Properties, click the Advanced button, and check the Run As Administrator box.)

If the error persists, you can try turning off the Windows error reporting altogether by changing a registry key on your computer. Contact RockWare support (support at rockware.com) for more details.
