Grid editing with null values

Recommended Posts

I would like to edit a grid file containing null values.

I couldn't figure out how to replace null values with a specified value. The only way I found is to manual edit the grid with Rockworks utilities.

Is a there a better approach?

Thanks,

Daniele

Hi Daniele,

One way to replace the grid null values with zeros is to use the Utilities Grid | Export menu to export to another format, such as a Surfer GRD file, and replace the null values with zeros. Next, import the GRD file back into RockWorks to convert it back to a RockWorks GRD file.

Replace null values with zeros when exporting a GRD file.

Another way is to use a text editor like Notepad to search and replace the null values with 0. The null values are listed in the RockWorks GRD file as follows:

 -1.00000000000000E+0027

Thank you for your quick answer.

I was looking for some tools inside Rockworks.

After editing the grid file in RCK I export it to Surfer and to xyz dat file.

Regards,

Daniele

Hi Daniele,

When you export the grid file to an external format like Surfer GRD, RockWorks gives you the option to replace the null values with zeros within the RockWorks program.
