Existing lith model, show selected lith only?

Recommended Posts

We created a lith model that we would like to visualize only selected sand units. Is it possible to turn-off all other lithology in the model except for selected sand units? Perhaps this is possible by using a g-value filter? Thanks for your input?

In RockPlot3D, double-click on the Lithology Model item in the data tree, to access the Solid Model Options.

In the middle of that window, insert a check in the Filter Enabled check-box. Then, use the low and high slider bars to define the min and/or max G values you wish to view. (Or just type in the min/max values). Click Apply, and the voxels with G values outside the range will disappear. The volume display will be updated to reflect the visible voxels only (if Show Volume is checked).

I probably should have also mentioned that this filtering process allows you to display voxels with sequential G values - "2"s "3"s and "4"s - but you cannot display only "2"s and "5"s, for example. For this reason, it's helpful to group your lithology materials (in the Lithology Types table) so that their G values are relational - sands in sequence, gravels in sequence. It just makes it easier to view groupings in RockPlot3D.
