Printing to HP Designjet 90r

Recommended Posts

When I compile my log and print to my HP Designjet 90r - font looks perfectly fine on screen, yet when I print, it prints BITMAPPED font. Why is this? How can I fix this problem. Other logs are just fine. Also, I sent one page to my other printer photosmart and it printed font fine. Any ideas?

Hi Jessica,

We have been communicating about this issue via e-mail and phone, so I am summarizing here on the forum so all may benefit.

The symptoms of the problem were pixelated fonts when the entire 7500' log was plotted at a scale of 1"=50' as a continuous log on the HP DesignJet 90R.

Pixelated "bitmapped" fonts on a portion of the log header.

The problem may have been caused by insufficient memory due to large bitmaps inserted in the header.

Possible solutions include:

  • Use smaller bitmap or image files in the header.
  • Instead of printing the entire log as a continuous log, print the log one page at a time, but with zero margins. Banner printers like the DesignJet 90R printer have the option to print multiple pages together as a banner.

We look forward to hearing the results of these suggestions.
