excavation grid

I've got a line grid saved as a shapefile in utm coordinates. I assume I'll have to convert the lines to polygons to accomplish the following. I want to create an I-data model based on contaminated soil concentrations above a certain threshold. The grid cells could be draped over the model as a reference for location. Better still, can the location and size of voxels be defined by the grid? The final product would be used to direct excavation of soil for remediation or for backfill. Are either of these approaches possible or is there an easier way?

Hi Mark,

it sounds like you have a Shape file made up of lines with elevation data. You can import it into a RockPlot2D (rk6) file but that still wouldn't give you many options. You could export to a DXF and then import the XYZ vertices into a Utilities Data Sheet where it could then be gridded.
