Add a river in rockworks 2006

Recommended Posts

Hi MaryMini,

One method to add a river to a 3D surface in RockWorks2006 is to drape an image over the GRD file of the surface.

Choose the Grafix | 3-D Utilities | Images | Drape menu command, specify the image and GRD file, and click Continue to display the draped image in the RockPlot3D window.

If the river is in a DXF, SHP, or DLG file format, import it into RockPlot2D, then export it to an image file (PNG, TIFF, JPG, BMP)

If you want to constrain a solid model (.MOD file) with a topography model of the ground surface (including the river channel) you can use the Solid / Filter / Grid Filters / One Bounding Grid option to set upper nodes to zero or null. Be sure the grid surface is in a RockWorks grid file format (.GRD) and has the same dimensions and node spacing as the solid model being filtered.
