  1. LogPlot8 supports Unicode characters, but older versions did not, and many non-English-language characters were not supported. If you are a Windows10 user, here are some steps you can follow to display specific language characters in programs which are not Unicode-compatible. Open the Windows Control Panel. Click Time and Language. Click Region and Language. Scroll down, below the languages which are displayed, and click Administrative Language Settings. Under the section "Language for non-Unicode programs" be sure it is set to the desired language. Since old versions of LogPlot do not support Unicode (LogPlot8 does) you have to load this "code page". If it is not set to the desired language, click the Change System Locale button, select the language, and click OK. Click Apply and OK. You may need to restart Windows to apply these changes. Thanks to Tomo for bringing this to our attention! Molly Mayfield RockWare Inc

  11. Need help to create a 2D striplog section

Hi Asif, If your cross section is very long and the boreholes very shallow you will need to apply vertical stretch to the diagram so that it does not look so flat. (By default it displays sections at 1:1.) Click the Perimeter Annotation Options "Options" button and enter a value into the Intended Vertical Exaggeration prompt. If you enter "5" for example then the vertical axis will be stretched by a factor of 5. Click OK to close the Options window, and re-Process the section. By setting this before the diagram is generated, RW will be better able to scale the diagram annotation, fonts, etc. when the vertical stretch is applied. You can refer to the Help topic: https://help.rockware.com/rockworks17/WebHelp/striplog_perim.htm For further assistance it might be helpful to see your data, you can use the Borehole Manager's File | Archive Database to Text menu option to create a project ZIP file which you can email to support at rockware.com. 16. If you have the RockWorks 16 build 2015.12.9 or RockWorks 17 build 2015.10.15 installed, you may see this error displayed when you check for updates when you launch RockWorks: Ancestor for pnlDirectory not found This simply means that the program has detected a new version on our website (which we posted today) and there may be a problem with the window which displays the new-update message. This problem pertains to the check-for-updates window only and does not affect the rest of the program. You can manually download and install the RockWorks update by following these steps: 1. Click on the following link: RockWorks 17, 16 - Current and Archived Versions: https://www.rockware.com/support/rockworks-support/rockworks-downloads/rockworks-product-updates/ 2. Save the installation program to your computer. 3. When the download is complete, run the installation. Do not uninstall the existing program first. 4. When the installation is complete, launch RockWorks. Note that because the bug is with the auto-updater, you'll need to manually download this build. The auto-updater should work for future updates. Let us know if you have any questions about this. Molly Mayfield RockWare Inc (TB- edit to add Rw16 )

  21. A new version of RockWorks17 (64- and 32-bit) was uploaded to the RockWare website today, with the following changes: + Added 2 additional stock animations to the RockPlot3D Video export, for rotations around the model's Z axis. + In the 2D Striplog I-Text was not correctly centered if the font angle wasn't Horizontal, Vertical or Diagonal. + The Projection Data stored in the grid and solid models now shows the units (meters vs feet) and excludes information about projections that aren't being used. + The Block Model Grade Statistics by Level program was calculating volumes using the Data Input units instead of the units of the solid model. + In the 2D Striplog the Zero Thickness Expand thickness value wasn't being saved. + The Utilities / Survey / XYZ --> Optimum Path / Plot 3D Path wasn't outputting a diagram. + Imported Surfer Binary grids now calculate the Y Spacing correctly. + Improvements to using the Help as local files: The help was not shown correctly if the computer did not have an Internet connection. The Test function in the Preferences menu was not using the correct path to the files. Also the Test function will extract the files immediately in order to test them. The help Zip file contains folder references, so the path to the help files in the preferences excludes "WebHelp" and refers to folder where WebHelp is to be installed and used. When a new Help Zip file is included in the installation and the user is using the local help, the zip file extraction is executed earlier in the RockWorks start up process to avoid file sharing problems. This does add some extra time for RockWorks to start when a new zip file is included. + Import and Export of Multiple tables Import and Export of Multiple tables were not consistent in the use of computer settings. RockWorks will now save and restore backups internally using US format settings. This allows sharing the archive files between computers with different format settings. Users manually creating or adding to the file will need to be aware of this specially for floating point numbers and dates. When a project table has a single quotation mark (') (as in Section A-A') the import will now import it. Some Unicode characters in field names caused the import to not find query parameters, causing the import to fail. + Reportworks Improvements: The background grid in Reportworks is now drawn correctly when the units are set to centimeters. The background grid in Reportworks is now set to 2 centimeters when set for centimeters. In Reportworks the coordinates for the Line and Rectangle dialog are now shown and can be modified by the user. In the Reportworks Line dialog buttons have been added to make the line Vertical or Horizontal. To download this build, use the Help | Check for Updates menu inside RockWorks17. 23. A user has reported a DLL error running the Safety Factor Calculations in RockPack III on a Windows 10 64-bit computer: Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine. MSSTDFMT.DLL. This is a DLL which is apparently not installed with newer versions of Windows, and it is required by RockPack III. Solution: 1. Find this DLL: First search your own computer for MSSTDFMT.DLL. If you cannot find it locally, search your company network computers for known safe copies of this DLL (probably from installations of older software). If you cannot find it on your network, you can also do a search on the microsoft.com site. We do not recommend downloading DLLs from "DLL Download" websites. 2. Once you locate a copy of the MSSTDFMT.DLL file, copy it to one of these system folders: If you have a 32-bit computer: c:\windows\system32\ If you have a 64-bit computer: c:\windows\syswow64\ 3. Register the DLL In the Search box on the Windows 10 taskbar, type in: cmd You should see the "Command Prompt, Desktop App" displayed in the results. Right-click on this item and select Run As Administrator. Click Yes if prompted to confirm it's ok for this program to make changes to your system. At the command prompt, type one of the following and press the Enter key: 32-bit: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\msstdfmt.dll 64-bit: regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\msstdfmt.dll Note that there is a space between "regsvr32" and "c:\windows\..." If the registration is successful you'll be notified as such. Here is a quick video of how to access the command prompt. 4. Start RockPack III and see if the tools in the Safety Factors Calculations menu now launch. Contact our support group if you need additional information. Molly RockWare Inc.
