AqQA 1.5 has a known issue with printing diagrams (Piper plots, etc.) to PDF using Adobe Acrobat. Possible work-arounds include:

Choose File | Save Image As and save the diagram as a graphic file. Insert that file into a Word (or similar) document and print to PDF from there.

Use a different PDF printer. Our tests show that PDFCreator, a free program which we use at RockWare with some frequency, prints fine.

A user has reported a DLL error running the Safety Factor Calculations in RockPack III on a Windows 10 64-bit computer:

	Class not registered.
You need the following file to be installed on your machine.
MSSTDFMT.DLL.

This is a DLL which is apparently not installed with newer versions of Windows, and it is required by RockPack III.

	Solution:

	1. Find this DLL:

First search your own computer for MSSTDFMT.DLL.

If you cannot find it locally, search your company network computers for known safe copies of this DLL (probably from installations of older software).

If you cannot find it on your network, you can also do a search on the microsoft.com site.

We do not recommend downloading DLLs from "DLL Download" websites.

	2. Once you locate a copy of the MSSTDFMT.DLL file, copy it to one of these system folders:

	If you have a 32-bit computer: c:\windows\system32\
If you have a 64-bit computer: c:\windows\syswow64\

	3. Register the DLL

In the Search box on the Windows 10 taskbar, type in: cmd

You should see the "Command Prompt, Desktop App" displayed in the results.

Right-click on this item and select Run As Administrator.

Click Yes if prompted to confirm it's ok for this program to make changes to your system.

At the command prompt, type one of the following and press the Enter key:
32-bit: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\msstdfmt.dll
64-bit: regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\msstdfmt.dll
Note that there is a space between "regsvr32" and "c:\windows\..."

If the registration is successful you'll be notified as such.
Here is a quick video of how to access the command prompt.

	4. Start RockPack III and see if the tools in the Safety Factors Calculations menu now launch.

Hello, I am a new user and new to this forum. I have done a little research towards building my first groundwater model. I have been planning to build a solid lithologic model in RockWorks then exporting that information so it can be used in MODFLOW. Previous versions of RockWorks seemed set up for this through the Groundwater Vistas software. Is that method no longer supported? Is there a current recommended procedure from RockWorks to MODFLOW? Specifically, I need to build a groundwater flow/seepage model.

Customers have recently reported errors after installing Igpet2020 for Windows.

	On program launch:

	Path Not Found 76

After clicking OK, they were then prompted to browse for various settings files.

	Then:

	Path/File access error 75

	After clicking OK, this message:

Press the Preferences button (next window), find a valid path to your data files, then press Save Preferences.

	On program close:

Run-time error '76': Path Not Found

	The solution is quite simple.

Be sure you have unzipped the IgpetFiles folder to your Documents folder, as instructed by the installation PDF. It is this IgpetFiles folder that contains the files which are needed by the program. It should contain 6 sub-folders: CMAS, Controls, Data Files, Diagrams, MIN, and PC.

Be sure the IgpetFiles folder with said subfolders is not nested inside another folder. The hierarchy should be:

 Documents

 IgpetFiles

 CMAS

 Controls

 Data Files

 Diagrams

 MIN

 PC

 The hierarchy should NOT BE:

 Documents

 IgpetFiles

 IgpetFiles

 CMAS

 Controls

 Data Files

 Diagrams

 MIN

 PC

From Terra Softa:

	Saving Files to Protected Folders

Windows Defender (when turned on) will prevent you from saving files, especially image files like .wmf files. Since this is unacceptable, the following workaround is important.

+ Open Windows Defender if you have it running, its icon is a shield.

+ Click: Virus & threat protection settings (scroll down to find Controlled folder access).

+ Click: Manage Controlled folder access.

+ Click: Allow an app through Controlled folder access.

+ Click: Add an allowed app.

This opens up a file dialog that you use to find the Igpet EXE file so you can select it for access to protected folders (e.g. Desktop, Documents). Igpet_WinYEAR.exe is what you are looking for. It should be in the directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\IgpetYEAR.

+ Click on the Igpet_WinYEAR.exe file and answer Yes when asked to approve.

+ Finally, restart your PC so the changes in Windows Defender can take effect.

+ Do the same with the Mixing.exe and CipwPlus.exe programs to more easily use them.

Now Igpet will work quite a lot better.

I've effectively generated Piper Trilinear Diagrams, and can insert a saved .emf file from my machine into Word on my machine. However, when I email this .emf file to a colleague, and they attempt to insert this same file into their Word, the symbols (e.g filled circles, triangles, diamonds) emerge as letters on the diagram. This is most disconcerting.

The original .emf file is attached as a PDF, while the .png is what is being "seen" at the other end.

My question is whether my current version of Quicksurf (2013/2014) will work with AutoCAD 2016/2018, or if there is a newer version than shown on the Rockware site.

Hello!

Does anyone have experience with converting RockPlot3d files to 3D-PDF? I already tried this:

Export Rw3D file to dxf; from there with meshconv.exe to .ply; from there to .u3d with MeshLab and finally from there to a 3D-PDF with MiKTEX: the result was not very suitable.

The Bentley Viewer V8i does provide the possibility to just “print” a dxf to 3D-PDF. The result is better but there is still a big difference between what you see in the RockPlot3D viewer and the 3D-PDF.

Currently I try to use the Tetra4D converter plug-in on the Adobe Acrobat DC. But I am not sure if I am on the right way.

If someone already made some experience on this topic and can share that would be very helpful. May be any of the three possibilities would work with the right settings. Thanks in advance.

I had an on-again, off-again issue with Quicksurf, which I've used for many years for contouring environmental and geologic data. The issue is contours with offset kinks in them when using the kriging algorithm, typically with the exponential variogram model with concentration data. The surface will grid and contour as usual, but some, not all, of the contours will contain kinks in them in which the contours are offset a short distance, usually roughly equivalent to the grid spacing in short segments. The offset contours have right angle connecting segments to the main contour pline. It's a pain to have to do a lot of editing of these offset segments to obtain a clean figure for sharing with workgroups and insertion in reports, so I'd like to find out if I could make them magically disappear. The problem is more common with certain datasets than others. I can send examples, with data files, Quicksurf and Autocad files, if that would help

Any suggestions and is anyone else experiencing this? I usually design my variograms using the VARIO function.

Otherwise, the program rocks and I couldn't live (in consulting) without it.

Hello,

I have upgraded to a new computer and I am attempting to install Quicksurf 2013 on ACAD 2013.

When I type in the command “QSCONVERT” I get the error “Error in accessing the registry”.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled from the disk several times to no avail.

The program is working as a trial copy. Please advise.

Hello,

It would appear that the Quicksurf programming function qsi_lcmap does not accept long file names. It seems to have the old DOS 8.3 file name limit. Can you confirm my observation? If confirmed, can the function be modified so as to accept long file names?

Thanks

The Maximize Surface operations setting is not working. Whether it is turned on or off, surface operations are performed as if it is off.

I need to have it on.

Is there a system variable that I can set manually?

I'm using Quicksurf for ACAD 2011 to map a complex water table located next to a river and am having problems with Quicksurf reporting "unstable" and stopping during grid processing. The area I'm mapping contains a variety of elevation points, including randomly scattered well elevation data, an interceptor trench with a central pumping well and a elevation data from a group of pumping wells adjacent to the trench. I'm trying to model the trench with a three-dimensional array of points that are configured to approximate a drawdown cone within the trench, based on elevations at one end and in the middle. The array is currently set up as a 2'x2' grid extending over a 4'x268' area. The river margin is represented by a series of polylines extracted from a photogrammetric topographic map, which contains all topographic elements in 3D. The drawing doesn't contain any extraneous extreme high or low elevation points.

I'd like to model the area with a very tight (2'x2') grid, if I can, with exponential kriging, so I'll get nice, smooth contours and honor all the trench and pumping well data.

Any suggestions on getting this model to work other than coarsening up the grid to 4'x4' or greater?

I'm attaching a zip file containing the DWG with the points, a configuration file that represents what I'd like to use, and a surface file with a successful model at 4'x4' and the point data.

Hello,

I am trying to export the water type from the Data Analysis tab in AqQA. I have hundreds of water samples in my data sheet, but am not finding an easy way to export the results from the data analysis tab, other than copying and pasting each result separately. Anyone know of an easier way to do this?

Thanks

I would assume that total metals should be entered into the tables in AqAQ, as it is set up. Is there a way to distinguish between total vs dissolved when you enter the data. Wouldn't this effect some of the analysis, such as the charge balance?

Thanks for any feedback!

I'm trying to perform surface math, by subtracting one surface from another, and contouring the resulting "." surface. The surfaces I'm creating have a lot of variable points, but only about 10' of relief across the site. I'm getting an "unstable" error when I attempt to contour the surface with a kriging algorithm and the gridding process aborts. If I select the standard one, the gridding process completes. I'm using kriging on the primary surfaces, so using standard on the difference surface isn't a problem. However, I would like to understand the source of the problem.

I'm using Autocad 2011 and the corresponding Quicksurf 2011. I have a 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise OS, 64-bit Autocad and Quicksurf, and 8 GB of memory.

A user reported that AqQA was closing when printing a Piper plot directly to a color printer over the network. Possible work-arounds include:

Choosing Edit | Copy or Edit | Copy as Bitmap (where you can adjust resolution and output size) and pasting into Word (or similar) to print from there.

Choosing File | Save Image As, saving the diagram as an EMF file, and inserting that into Word to print from there.

When loading a custom color scheme in DeltaGraph (6.0.18 Mac) the swatch does not stay loaded and all color data is lost when moving between files. This means that every time I open a file, I have to load the color swatch again. This wasn't the case in DG5. Although I set my preferences to working in CMYK, occasionally the color scheme resets to RGB, or the color scheme simply changes its color values.

Also, when I try to make new files from my Chart Library that had been created with the custom color swatches, the colors are being linked differently than how they were configured when the template was created, even when I load the proper color scheme. When opening a file that was created with the custom scheme and checking its colors, the color swatch picker shows a different color than the one that is on-screen.

I notice that these issues were addressed in the Windows update 6.0.16. When will custom colors work properly on Mac? Please advise.
