Hello,

I am working with magnetic moment data acquired during geophysical surveys. The data are acquired along two directions, X and Y, and a total magnetic field measurement is calculated.

The objective here is to create a block model of the total magnetic field and overlay the X, Y, and total magnetic field curves on the same plot.

However, I am having difficulty displaying the data in a single graph containing only the X, Y, and total magnetic field curves. These datasets are all on approximately the same scale and are expressed in nanoTesla (nT).

RockWorks seems to require me to create three separate graphs, each containing only one curve. Is there a way to combine these three curves into a single graph?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have been using Grids > Stratigraphic Diagram to build model volumes from grids I created outside of Rockworks. Mostly having good success bringing in tops and base for each unit. I have one grid that simply will not make a closed volume from a top and a base (stratigraphic diagram will not enclose the sides of the grid with vertical panels, see attached image). I also tried using grid calculation and starting with the top and creating my own bottom using grid-constant. No luck. I WAS able to create a solid model from the top and the base, but the file is quite large and I am hoping to use the more lightweight Stratigraphic diagram approach. I am wondering if there are characteristics of a grid that would prevent the diagram from creating a proper volume? I have made sure both top and base have the same spatial extents and that there are no negative thicknesses. What else should I be looking for to fix this one?

Hass anyone tried to use a Wavefront OBJ export from RW3D in something OTHER than SketchFab? The RW export files come in just fine into SketchFab but create errors when using on-line "plain vanilla" OBJ viewers or when trying to input into an OBJ to GLTF converter. Is there something about the OBJ file that RW3D exports that is written specifically for SketchFab import? I am on the ragged edge of my knowledge here about meshes and 3D file export but am hoping to export to viewer other than SketchFab. Ultimately would love a clean GLTF format file compatible with open-source GLTF viewers.

Dumb question that I cannot seem to overcome. I'm creating a model-based stratigraphy section but want to limit the y-axis minimum to 800 ft. No matter what settings I try, the output cross section has a y-axis minimum of 0 ft (see attached): z-scale Spatial Filter; Elevation Range in the Annotation menu; editing the Dimensions to set the Z-values. The boreholes don't have any "deep" data to explain it, although there appear to be oddly deep perimeter/outlines to the boreholes in the cross section. The vertical-axis issue persists even when I change boreholes.

I'm currently working with some soil data and I've opted to construct a section to show off the lithology underneath the surface. The problem is that the data that was collected from the boreholes does not extrapolate higher than the lowest borehole in the section. This is a problem when we want to include something like a surface profile, as the areas between the tops of the lower elevation boreholes and higher ones simply does not fill in, not even as a block which could then be trimmed by using a surface profile.

Is there some setting that I'm missing here to allow it to do this? Is it that the lithologic data doesn't line up quite right, or is there something else that I'm missing entirely here.

	Hello,

I have ~290 boreholes with stratigraphic picks; 5 units. Some boreholes only have 1 unit; some have all 5 units. I've variously created solid strat models and top/bottom unit grids for selected units.

What is the best way to compute residuals for the top/bottom stratigraphic elevations, from the boreholes relative to the computed model/grids? Ideally, I would have them in both tabular form (to review statistical distribution) and mapped to see spatial distribution.

I can do this in Arc/Python, but I would prefer to reduce the switching between software when possible.

	Hello,

I have ~290 boreholes with stratigraphic picks; 5 strat units. Model area is 18,400 x 19,000 x 2,190 ft (XYZ, respectively); spacing is 500 x 500 x 10 ft. This is a reduced model size for quicker testing of variables and input data and will be expanded with a finer resolution once I've resolved the best approach. I also have a constraining surface of the DEM (same DEM that was used to compute the borehole elevations) and have a baseplate set to the lowermost unit.

I have a surficial geologic map that I've converted into a raster/grid matching the project dimensions. For each surficial model cell without a "real" borehole and stratigraphic data, I've created a pseudo-borehole to represent the surficial geologic map. I set the borehole's location to the cell's centroid and set a stratigraphic interval of 0-10 ft to match the surficial map. The pseudo-boreholes are identified by a boolean field in the Location tab. [I alternately used (1) an interval of 0-unknown ft and (2) two intervals: 0-10 ft and 10-unknown. The three options don't seem to differ much in their results.]

Conceptually, the inclusion of these pseudo-boreholes should result in a solid model (or layered model) that has a surface matching the surficial geologic map. Yet, I can't achieve the desired result. I've been tinkering with the modeling algorithm, modeling sequence, and other options, to no avail. Some are clearly more suitable than others, but none seem to generate a surface that truly matches expectations, even when hiding thin units in a layered model. The subsurface of my attempts still leaves something to be desired as well, but I have ideas for how to resolve that.

What do you think the best approach would be for enforcing the surficial stratigraphy? I have to imagine that the inclusion of these data should be able to improve model results, but I'm struggling with the mechanism.

In anticipation of the request to send the data for further investigation, I've also emailed the dataset (and this prompt) to the RW team.

	Thanks!

Using RockWorks, is there a way (now or in the future) to create a single stratigraphic model with variable cell size? For example, I have a valley surrounding on both sides by "uplands" and I would like to make the valley a finer resolution and the uplands a coarser resolution. The valley is moderately small and so I would imagine that the increased resolution wouldn't have a drastic impact on the processing time, whereas making the entire model area the finer resolution may make the model too computationally intensive to create.

Alternately, I could make the finer "valley" model initially, use the boundary cells to create "pseudo" boreholes that will be used as inputs into a coarser model for the entire study area. The caveat is then I would need to find a way to combine the models, which may be a time sink.

	Hi,

I have a data set that will create a Stratigraphy Layer Model, Profiles, Sections etc with no issues; however, when I try to create isopach maps and similar the program runs and then freezes, and I have to reboot Rockworks. I don't have the same issues with other projects so it looks as if there is a problem with this data.

	Any suggestions.

	Tim

I have a layered stratigraphic model with a tube running between the layers. I have exported a projected section based on the layered model along the tube. The tube is not shown in the 2d section. If I arrange the cross-section perpendicular to the tube, the cut surface of the tube is shown. Is there a possibility to see the tube also longitudinally or only when it is cut perpendicularly? Thank you

Hi, I'm trying to grid a datasheet (XYZ -> GRID) with a few points (more than 3), but keep getting above error. I have adjusted the dimensions according to input data.

Can you have a look at the input and the menu settings? Files below.

	thanks, Peter

	Hi

I am new to Rockworks, but I am used to Petrel; is there option to a create grid for XYZ data from multiple sources (sheets, lines and existing grids) to great single grid? I looked at the grid option and I can see that only one datasheet can be used. Thanks

Hi all, Is there an efficient way to generate multiple polygon tables from a shp containing multiple polygons?

	I tried:

	- import shp to data sheet

	- copy each polygon to a separate data sheet

	- add a new polygon table

	- import polygon from data sheet into polygon table

this process seems extremely complicated and cumbersome. Is there a more efficient way to go directly from shp to multiple polygon tables for each polygon contained in the shp?

	thanks, Peter

	Hi

Why do I get with many operations the Error "Not a valid RWGRD file." althouth the RWGRD-File was created beforehand with Rockworks? I could display the grid without Problems without draping an image over it.

	This time I wanted to

	- use "Grid --> 2D Map / 3D Map Diagram"

	- drape a PNG over it I created in Rockworks beforehand

I have attached the PNG, the grid is too large.

I have restarted Rockworks several times. running version 2022.9.30

	thanks for any advice, Peter
