Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you’d like to discuss this further. I’d be happy to check with our programming team to determine whether this behavior is a limitation of the OBJ format itself or something we might be able to modify to improve compatibility with other programs.

	Thanks,

I am building 3D volumes using Grids -> 3D strat diagram, viewing the result in RW3D window, and exporting each modeled unit as an OBJ, with the hopes of sharing these files with a colleague to insert into a viewing application where multiple models are viewed together. The problem is that the OBJ export does not appear to retain real-world coordinates. When working in the Rockworks 3D viewer window, I can see the coordinates down at the lower right that are clearly labeled in X, Y, and Z coordinate space; they are understandable (and expected), such as:

However, when I open the exported OBJ file in a mesh viewer like MeshLab, the first node has coordinates:

	19500.000000000, 57810.710937500, -270450.000000000 and the last node: 229500.000000000, 59273.933593750, -530450.000000000

None of these coordinates are consistent with my UTM Zone 15N projected coordinate system of my project and none of these values is a Z value for my model.

I wonder what is going on here. I realize that the Wavefront OBJ export was written specifically to create an isosurface around all visible objects on screen to port them to SketchFab, so perhaps preserving real world coordinates is unimportant if all we are asking for is a generic visualization? Am I missing something fundamental here? Or is this a limitation of the export functionality? If a limitation, how much more extra work would it be create the functionality to export the OBJ in real-world coordinates? Those coordinates are resident in the RW3D view; could the export not retain its real-world coordinates to support compatibility with other 3D programs or model viewers that need actual XYZ coordinates? I am wondering if anyone else has run into this or if RW developers have a comment. I apologize for the delayed response. It sounds like you have set up both the SIM file and the input file correctly. One possibility to consider is whether the issue could be related to the delimiter used in the input file.

If you are still experiencing problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us at tech@rockware.com. If we’re able to review your SIM file and input file and reproduce the issue, we should be able to assist you further.

We're using RockWorks and LogPlot. For us it would make a lot of sense to handle all the data of a project in the SQLITE-database of a RockWorks Project.

At the moment this is not possible because there are differences and between the data models of LogPlot and RockWorks.

Are there any plans to make this database 100% compatible with LogPlot Datatypes, and to coordinate the data models of LogPlot and RockWorks?

Are there people out there that would appreciate such a change?

Or are there people who found a solution to this?

Many thanks for the recent update of PetraSim 2025-2.

I tried the new feature of Import Cell Data, but failed with the following error when I tried to implort material data.

Error: 4 Material is undefined within Lookup Table.

I have a CSV file containing X,Y,Z,Material columns. In the Material columns, the data have values from 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0.

In PetraSim, I defined 4 materials with material code of 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0.

I think I set them correctly, but there can be mistake somewhere.

Does the error message suggest that there is a problem in material definition in the Petrasim data?

Or do I completely misunderstand somehting?

It would be nice if someone can help to fix the error.

	Thank you in advance,

I'm looking for help fixing/removing these black lines from the -6 to 0 around my lithologic description, and also from the bottom of the page (circled in attachments). Is there some way I can have more control over the dimensions of these lines/boxes? They seem to just extend the length of the log body, but I would like to be able to adjust the sizing/dimensions of the frames.

For the bottom portion, I extended it to 22 feet because when I set the log depth to 21 feet, the depth lines pointing to my well diagram cut off. The RockWorks Revision History includes complete lists, by date, of all changes in the program.

	New Features:

It is now possible to "drag-and-drop" file names into the RockWorks menu dialogs that are used for specifying input and output files.

The Interpolate Surfaces | Modeling Sequence sub-menu within the programs that create layered stratigraphic models (i.e., Stratigraphy | Layered Model, Solid Model, Profile, Section, Projected Section, and Fence) now includes options for defining how the Superface (top) of the formations will be defined.

RockPlot2D - Options added to save the vertices of a polyline or polygon to a Datasheet file.

	Improvements:

A "pseudocode" explanation showing how the program works has been added to the ModOps | Solid | Extract Grids | Solid -> Grids menu.

Border coordinate and label annotations no longer "jiggle" when creating animations of 2D maps.

The Project Coordinate Systems, List Search dialog, has been improved with options allowing the user to add, edit, or delete terms.

For Grid-based models, the Hybrid Gridding Algorithm creates and uses a temporary grid. That grid is now assigned a temporary name to avoid conflicts with other output grids.

	Bug Fixes:

The Lateral Blending algorithm no longer omits the interpolations within the upper portion of the model if the Warping option is enabled.

The Playlist | Add Set Project Dimensions option now adds the "Set Project Dimensions" title to the Playlist. The previous version would only add the dimensions icon.

ModOps | Volume | Ore Grid - The variables to do the polygon clipping and setting the polygon name are now being passed correctly.

Stratigraphy striplogs - Intervals in a log will be plotted if the log is partially above and below ground.

ReportWorks: Moving the vertices of lines, arrows, polylines, and polygons will no longer cause vertices to disappear or raise an Access Violation.

The Polygon Clipping option within the ModOps | Volume | Ore Grid program now sets the cell node values outside the polygon to a null (-1.0e27) value rather than zero. Consequently, the statistics (e.g., mean) that are listed within the output report do not include these cells.

Contour maps no longer sporadically omit the closing line segment within closed contours.

To download this software build, use the Help | Updates | Check for Updates menu inside RockWorks.
