If you have a RockWorks license with expired maintenance, contact RockWare or visit the RockWare Customer Portal to renew your maintenance so that you can update to the new version.

If you are using RockWorks20xx and are current on maintenance, the 4-digit program name will move up to the current year "RockWorks2025" with the first release of each new year.

A note about file syncing while working in Rockworks. When your projects are stored in programs like OneDrive or Dropbox, you may experience delays in saving from RockWorks or receive errors about the database being unavailable (unable to save). This is because both programs are trying to sync simultaneously. If you want to avoid this inconvenience, please pause the SYNC feature in the storage programs while working in RockWorks. Also, when using OneDrive with RockWorks, it is NOT recommended that the Documents folder be remapped to OneDrive.

(013) 09/25/25/JCJ - Improvement:

Borehole Location Map | Symbol Options now allows labels based on Hydro-Stratigraphy.

(012) 09/24/25/JCJ - Bug Fix:

Borehole Operations | Color | Solid - The RwMod file created by color modeling now combines the three models correctly. The modeling was creating a RwMod file of all NULLS.

(011) 09/24/25/JCJ - Bug Fix:

Surface Contours | Grid Model | Create New Grid - The option to export the grid during creations, such as export to ASCII XYZ grid, is now working. The call to do the export was added for this menu item.

(010) 08/01/25/JPR - New Feature:

This program reads multivariate data from a datasheet, computes a hierarchical clustering (agglomerative), and renders a 3D dendrogram — a branching tree structure. It's essentially a visual clustering tool for scientific or geological multivariate data, where relationships between samples are shown as branches that merge at increasing “distances” in 3D space.

(009) 07/16/25/JPR - New Feature:

The Lateral Blending algorithm has been added to the list of possible algorithms for color modeling.

(008) 07/14/25/JPR - Bug Fix:

The 2D map Peripherals | Title option no longer locks up the program if the Secondary Title is blank.

(007) 07/14/25/JPR - Improvement:

The yellow-on-red prompts that appear at the top of the section, profile, and fence location menus are now visible.

(006) 07/14/25/JPR - Improvement:

The following changes have been made to the Striplog Placement menu that is used by the Lithology, Stratigraphy, and HydroStratigraphy Picker programs: (1) The units are now shown for the Equal Spacing option. (2) The warning no longer refers to the vestigial "Truncation tab". Instead, it now correctly refers to the Spatial Filter tab.

(005) 07/13/25/JPR - Improvement:

The Lithology Picker, Stratigraphy Picker, and HydroStratigraphy Picker programs now include an option for plotting a previously-created section as the background image. The programs also include a new option for plotting the picks as transparent cross-hatched patterns rather than solid-fills.

(004) 07/09/25/JPR - New Feature:

Contour smoothing now accounts for faulted surfaces and produces better results along the fault margins.

(003) 07/09/25/JPR - Improvement:

The contour smoothing options have been moved to the top of the 2D Grid Map and 3D Grid Map sub-menus because the smoothing now applies to both the Colored Intervals as well as the Contour Lines.

(002) 07/09/25/JPR - Improvement:

Color bands and contour polylines are now more closely aligned within the 2D maps.

(001) 07/01/25/JCJ - New Feature:

RockWorks Grids can be reprojected. If a person imports a grid and realize that it is not in the correct project or units, It can be reprojected - ModOps | Grid | Statistics | Grid Reproject. This will change the Coordinate Reference System (CRS), coordinates, and spacing values of a grid. The number of nodes and values of the nodes (like depth) remain unchanged.
