The Geochemist's Workbench is a set of interactive software tools for solving problems in aqueous geochemistry, including those encountered in environmental protection and remediation, the petroleum industry, and economic geology.
GWB Professional, the highest tier of The Geochemist's Workbench software suite, contains the same tools as the lower (GWB Essentials) and middle (GWB Standard) tiers, plus a full suite of 1D and 2D reactive transport modeling tools. The new version 8 includes significant speed enhancements. The features of GWB Pro: |
|
|
| Xtplot showing output from X2t - polythermal model of transport and reaction in a clastic petroleum reservoir during steam flooding. Color contours show volume of beidellite clay which reduces reservo |

- multi-threading / parallel processing for multi-core computersnew!
- dual porosity modelnew!
- transport by advection, diffusion and dispersion
- fixed and evolving flow rates and patterns
- saturated and unsaturated flow
- permeability constant or varying
- import flow fields as table, or from Modflow models
- heat flow by advection and conduction
- model polythermal flow and reactions
- set internal domain heat sources
- regular or variably spaced (telescoping) grids
- flexible boundary conditions on all sides of the domain
- heterogeneous domains and initial conditions
- easy to use "in-line" tables for specifying node-by-node heterogeneity
- define domain heterogeneity using tables, equations, scripts or compiled functions
- simulate injection and production wells
- set two reaction intervals

Designed for geochemists by geochemists, The Geochemist's Workbench is fast, powerful, and easy to use - an essential toolkit for academic researchers, professionals, and educators.

| GWB Pro modules |
GWB Professional contains all 6 of the modules found in GWB Essentials- GSS, Rxn, Act2, Tact, SpecE8, and Gtplot (for more detail, see the GWB Essentials modules section).
GWB Professional also contains the reaction path modeling module found in GWB Standard- React. (for more detail, see the GWB Standard modules section).
In addition GWB Professional contains 3 modules for reactive transport modeling: |
|
|
| Xtplot showing output from X2t - Migration of lead contamination (color contours) in an aquifer with complexing mineral - image also shows contamination point sources, extraction well, fluid velocity |
|
|
- X1t- module for running 1D reactive transport simulations
- X2t- module for running 2D reactive transport simulations
- Xtplot- displays the results of X1t and X2t simulations
