New Features in Downhole Explorer 3 |
- Enhanced versatility through archiving
Downhole Explorer 3.1 has a new File option, to archive data. By default, Downhole Explorer uses data linked to source tables so your work is always up-to-date; archiving lets you save all the data necessary to recreate a particular point in time, unaffected by changes to the live data.
- Improved plotting using linked replicas
Plots containing multiple linked instances of other sheets/plots (replicas) can now be created using the new "linked replica" functionality.
- A striking NEW user interface
Downhole Explorer 3.0 has a new look, customizable user interface with selectable, task-specific Property windows.
- Task specific property windows
- The Workspace Window - The workspace window contains all the objects loaded in the Downhole Explorer document and its object tree enables views, and specific components within those views, to be identified and selected easily. Not only does the Workspace window facilitate navigation and selection but it also offers a quick way to move and copy features between views and objects. It also gives the ability to select which objects or holes may be viewed in log and section views.
- Properties Window - The new, tabbed Properties window allows the editing of many of the values relating to objects selected in a Plot window or in the Workspace window. Values may be altered at any time to change dynamically section orientations and view directions.
- Output Window - The output window, as for earlier versions of Downhole Explorer, displays hole validation information when data or documents have been loaded. Hole summary and desurvey reports are also displayed here.
- Digitizer Window - Downhole Explorer 3.0 allows digitizing in multiple views: whilst digitizing you can move from one view to another. This feature can be used with logs, tables, sections and plans and can also define section lines.
- Compositor Window - The Compositor window has been enhanced to show composited values for multiple properties, for the selected sample interval.
- Hyperlink Window - A new Hyperlink window displays information linked to data and graphical features in section, log, table or report views.
- Improved editing
- Ability to copy and paste plot items from one page to another and to other open documents.
- Copy and special paste for formats of plot items and overlays.
- Tables (views and plot items) can be sorted and filtered.
- Report tables that show validation errors are automatically updated if you edit the data.
- Enhanced presentation of plot items
- Version 3.0 permits more overlaying of data, in log views, for much higher impact presentation. Graphs may be placed one over another, like a grade histogram on a lithology log, to emphasize a specific relationship.
- The thickness of drillhole traces can now be edited.
- The grid has been improved, giving the option to specify the number of decimal places shown in the annotation.
- Plot items can be inserted into title boxes - When inserting a new cell into a title box, the plot item library enables you to specify the content such as a scale bar, a bitmap or a table.
- The content of existing cells can also be edited more easily.

- New measuring tool
The Measuring tool enables the easy interrogation of a view to find the distance between two or more points.
- Improved versatility for importing of data
The new import wizard allows easier import of all types of data, not just drillhole data.
