ArcGIS 3D Analyst - visualize and analyze surface data
New Features

New in ArcGIS 3D Analyst 9

ArcGIS 3D Analyst 9 includes a number of new features including the following:

ArcGlobe

ArcGlobe features include:

  • Display of multiresolution image and terrain data
  • Support for vector data (e.g., points, lines, polygons, and 3D objects)
  • Conversion of two-dimensional representations to 3D on the fly
  • Support for identify, select, find, and text/labeling
  • Animation functionality that offers a quick and easy way of creating 3D visualization (with options to export to a video format)
  • Various layer effects such as transparency, lighting, shading, and depth priority

3D Symbols
ArcGIS 3D Analyst 9 adds support for using industry-standard 3D symbols for visualization including VRML, 3D Studio Max, and Open Flight formats. In addition, the support for 3D symbology further augments the realism provided by the ArcGlobe application. True 3D symbology allows you to create maps that enhance scientific visualization and simulation. ArcGlobe includes style libraries to give you a variety of real-world symbols from which to choose.

Geoprocessing
ArcGIS 3D Analyst 9 integrates into the new ArcGIS 9 geoprocessing environment including a 3D Analyst toolbox containing more than 45 tools for creating and analyzing surfaces.
