In addition to the ArcGIS Desktop enhancements, ArcView 9.1 adds 63 geoprocessing tools. ArcView 9.1 users can now create and edit subtypes in personal geodatabases and access the full range of linear referencing functionality including creating routes, editing routes, and performing geoprocessing on linear-referenced data.

- Improved Quality, Stability, and Performance ArcGIS 9.1 includes many improvements and adds support for large data sets.
- Improved Geoprocessing ArcGIS 9.1 matches the graphical user interface with the geoprocessing functionality by adding geoprocessing tools to the ArcGIS Desktop products: 63 tools to ArcView, 86 tools to ArcEditor, and 22 tools to ArcInfo.

- Save As Tool to Ease Migration The Save As tool allows you to save a copy of documents (.mxd, .sxd, .lyr) as 8.3 with no changes required in the 8.3 projects. Please note that the ArcGIS 9.0 release uses the same format as ArcGIS 9.1 and that new ArcGIS 9.0 and ArcGIS 9.1 features and functionality, such as 9.0 and 9.1 geodatabases and new raster formats, are not backward compatible and cannot be used in ArcGIS 8.3.
- Better OGC Support ArcGIS 9.1 offers broader support of OGC map standards including WMS, WFS, and Catalog Services.
