New Features in WellCAD 4.4

The Dips Workspace displays dip data as a separate report page independent of the Polar & Rose Logs. 

• Supports Polar plots with cluster statistics and rotation options.
• Creates rose diagrams and distribution histograms.
• Displays vector plots with interactive picking of formation tops.
• Classify dips with Woodcock diagrams.
• Print preview allows addition of titles, legends, and annotations.
• Save and load layout templates.
• Select depth range and interval from toolbar.
• Export JPG, TIF, and GIF at specified resolution.

WellCAD 4.4 comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The installation program prompts for the desired version. 

• New Vector Plots provide a graphical display of the cummulative sum of unit vectors representing orientation data such as azimuth or dip. Add vectors from top to base or reversed to dectect small changes in dip or azimuth.
• Interactively trace changes in vector direction by adding Markers. These markers are converted to Marker Log data for the Dips Workspace.
• Vector Plots are available on Polar & Rose Logs and in the new Dips Workspace.

Choose File | Export > Single File to specify file type, resolution, and depth range.  File types include JPG, GIF, TIF, PNG, EMF, BMP, and CGM.

• Choose from a larger selection of colors for Image Logs color palettes.
• Select additional colors for Well Logs, Mud Logs, and Interval Logs.
• Define up to 64 colors tied to specific values on the log scale.

• Add calendar tools, dropdown lists, and check boxes to ease data entry in headers.
• Choose from new selection options, borders, backgrounds, and alignment options.
• Double-click to open the Properties window.
• Import JPG, TIF, GIF, PNG, and BMP files.

• Edit multiple logs in each workspace to enable descriptions of changes in the horizontal and vertical directions.
• Sort Pattern and Symbol libraries alphabetically or by most used.
• Use character shortcuts for fast pattern / symbol selection.
• Text boxes include an Auto-Complete feature for fast text entry.

Enable the Auto-Complete feature to speed up data entry. WellCAD will automatically look up text from entries in a dictionary file.

The Wellsite Module adds new symbols for Fluid Loss / Gain, Drilling, Gas Parameters, and Custom operational symbols.

• Grid line styles are available for the Structure Log.
• Clear Content option available for each log.
• Handling of multiple reference data sets in the Depth Matcher tool.
• The Litho Bar has a new appearance and allows sorting and keyboard short cuts to access pattern.
• New interface and support of overlapping intervals for the Statistics Bar.
• Defaults for grid lines can be set under Tools > Options now.
• Improved Alias Table support.
• New Round, LogBase, Max2, Min2, Power and Tanh functions in formula parser.
• Extended conversion options for CoreDesc Log.
• The Automation Module now supports Print Settings, Group / Title Settings, Base Settings and Log History
• New process for RGB Logs to extract Red, Green and Blue color components.
• Auto zonation process involving multiple input logs.

Older dongles are being phased out, but you can still use the old dongle (LPT or long USB dongles) through the end of 2012 for 32-bit versions of WellCAD 4.4.

The 64-bit version of WellCAD 4.4 requires the new (short) USB dongle.
