Encom PA - integrate, analyze and visualize geophysics, geochemistry and geology data from various sources
New Features

Encom Discover PA - Profile Analyst Integration with Encom Discover

The new Encom Discover PA 2013 reflects enhanced integration with Encom Discover and improved support for MapInfo Professional / Discover files.

General New Features in Encom Discover PA 2013
  • A new Cosmetic Feature database is automatically created and opened in any new session. This cosmetic item in the Data Manager can be simply dragged and dropped into any map or profile window to quickly and easily create a feature database in the corresponding projection.
  • Drag and drop MapInfo Professional / Discover TAB filesinto the Encom Discover PA window to automatically open them in the most appropriate type (such as a raster image, grid surface or vector file).
  • Drag and drop multiple surface grids into the PA windowwith new display options, either as a single new map window, or in individual windows.
  • Create 3rd party vector formats with the Transform Vector File, such as KML, GPX and DXFs, with a Z-height field assignment, as well as an attribute/label field. This is therefore great for looking at soil sample results or collar names on simple GPS devices.
  • The projections list has been updated with all projections / coordinate systems available in MapInfo Professional / Discover 2012.

Airborne Quality Control – Usability Enhancements
QC Fields are now appended to the input database you are checking, and refreshed in the map view. This allows quicker mapping and visualization of areas of anomalous line deviations or measured values.

Users can now also graphically select tie lines and flights in the map window, allowing quicker spatial data selection.

Line Utility – New Tools for Database Processing
  •  The Clip Survey lines tool has been completely redesigned for this release, with significant processing speed improvements. This new tool will also now support multiple polygons of any shape.
  • IGRF values can now be calculated at each sample’s / station’s location with a new utility, at a specified Time and Altitude.
  • Databases can now be subsetted with a new utility, selecting the required Lines to save in a new database.
  • Decimate a database by samples along each line by taking every Nth sample.
  • Sort stations along a line – for correcting unsorted stations or line fragments, and constructing continuous lines.

Voxel/3D Grids
  • Gridding – creation and display of rotated models is now supported. This includes the powerful ability to define, preview and modify a rotated mesh in a 3D Map prior to the full gridding process starting. The 3D grid mesh can therefore be interactively fitted to orient and align more closely to your dataset; for example alignment along trends, or adding sub-blocks with a higher resolution in closely spaced areas of data.
  • Substantial improvements have been made to the processing speed of the many powerful Voxel Utilities. This means much quicker results can be generated from these advanced processes, such as assigning the average value of all contained block/voxel cells to a series of target volumes.
  • Thresholded voxel models can be exported as DXFs for more efficient file handling/sharing.

Assign (Interpolate) Grids to Dataset
  •  Assign grid values to both feature and survey databases.
  • Allow the ability to “drape” or “hang” feature vectors over a grid. This allows both polygons and polylines to accurately follow the topographic / grid surface.
  • Both multiple grids and multi-banded grids are now supported, enabling the population of multiple fields with different grid values in one step.

Grid Utilities
  •  Curvature – computes the curvature of a surface at each cell centre.
  • Cut/Fill – computes the volume differences between 2 grids and classifies the area.
  • Outline – creates bounding rectangles for selected grids as a vector file.
  • Surface Area – computes the 3D surface area of a grid.
  • Slope – calculates the maximum slope direction and slope gradient.
  • Viewshed - identifies the viewable area of a terrain grid from one or more elevation point/s

Large and Multi-file Gridding
New gridding methods are now available:
  • Triangulation (TIN)
  • Inverse Distance Weighting
  • Data Density
  • Data Point separation (distance)
  • Stamp Only (convert vector to grid)
