Map Window Views, 3D Display & Navigation, Fly-Throughs and Vector Objects

Map Window Views

Any map window view created in MapInfo/Discover can be viewed in Discover 3D as a georeferenced image. The image may be displayed in Discover 3D at a constant Z-level or draped over a gridded surface.

3D Navigation and Fly-Throughs

Mouse buttons and movements provide real-time control of the 3D view. A fly-through wizard allows you to create fly-through sequences for later playback to export to movie files.

3D Points and Lines

Point clouds and 3D lines can be created directly from MapInfo Professional objects. Controls include size, color, offset and rotation modulation.

Extrude 2D Objects to 3D

Apply height/depth extrusions to 2D objects in MapInfo/Discover to create 3D objects. Azimuth, dip and color parameters can be specified. This is an excellent tool to visualize structural data, such as fault planes, or infrastructure such as shafts or buildings.

Drillholes & Sections

Take your Discover drillhole projects into 3D.

  • Modulate downhole data such as lithology or assays
  • Simultaneously display a number of downhole variables
  • Display Discover cross-sections and logs
  • View cross-section boundaries in 3D and interpolate to create simple 3D solids

3D Vector Objects

Discover 3D has the ability to open and display 3D DXF files created from external software or MapInfo Professional vector objects.

  • Display 3D Vectors such as orebody extents or pit/underground mine design
  • Smooth 3D object surface, reverse facing or cull back
  • Override existing fill color
  • Apply transparency
  • Display 3D ojbect as wireframe

Z-values for MapInfo vector object selections can be constant, read from attribute column or interpolated using a terrain surface.
