ArcPad Tools for ArcGIS Desktop

As a mobile component of ArcGIS, ArcPad integrates with desktop GIS technologies to allow field edits to be incorporated into a geodatabase through disconnected editing.

The ArcPad toolbar for ArcGIS, included with ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo, provides tools for preparing data for use with ArcPad. Functionality in these tools includes:

Mobile geodatabase editing to check in/out data and convert your data from ArcGIS Desktop for use in the field
Extracting and converting vector data into shapefiles
Exporting symbology

Using the ArcPad toolbar in ArcGIS Desktop, you can check out features from personal and enterprise geodatabases and edit them in ArcPad. The checked out features are converted into shapefiles for editing in ArcPad. The ArcPad tools in ArcGIS automatically create custom input forms, using the domains and subtypes defined in the geodatabase to generate pick lists. The ArcPad tools also manage the process of checking in the data and updating the geodatabase with the edits made in ArcPad.
