Working with Faulted Surfaces

Use RockWorks to model fracture proximity from downhole fracture data, and bore a tunnel into the model to determine where it will encounter fractured rock.

1. Enter downhole fracture data into the borehole database (shown here as discs).

2. Create a distance-to-fracture block model based on the downhole fracture data.

3. Enter tunnel data (e.g. endpoint coordinates and radii), shown here as 3D tubes.

4. Use the tunnel data as filters for the fracture model to show where the tunnel will encounter fractured rock.

5. Repeat as necessary with other downhole data (e.g. lithology, stratigraphy, RQM, moisture, etc.). This process can also be used to compute volumes.
